Zombie- Behind The Scenes

Sometimes you gotta go all in.  Months in the making, this Bike Monkey Zombie extravaganza required the Culture Pop crew to go BIG or go home.  Shooting on location in Boggs Mountain State Forest, we brought in the pro makeup team from Pandora FX in San Francisco to transform Adam Menconi and Wade Scarpelli into brain-munching, Capo-wearing, skin-rotting Zombies from hell. The crew worked tirelessly, with Kit Karutz SPRINTING the Red Epic Dragon through the woods in take after take.  Gunther Kirsch must have made three hundred trips back and forth from set to holding as he schlepped tripods, lenses, […]

Salive Tristesse

Yes, this is what happens during our lunch break. Create a slice of life, emotional art film that provides a gateway to self reflection. We give you Salive Tristesse. You can thank us later….

Rainy Day Aerial

It’s not too often we get rain here in California. Or so it seems. In the midst of filming one of our projects we seized the opportunity to get some aerials of the amazing landscape over Chalk Hill Estate. It was raining quite hard at times but we timed it just right. We’ve been through a whole gamut of helicopters throughout the years but nothing really compares to our DJI Phantom 2. It’s safe (in the right hands), small and nimble. Everyone can enjoy a good aerial shot or two, but like anything, too much and it can get old fast. […]

Epic Film Productions On The Horizon

We have some major film productions coming up here soon. Bike Monkey, a Santa Rosa based company, is working with us again to create some fresh commercial content, shot on our brand new 6K RED Epic Dragon. This just happens to be the same model camera used to film Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Not gloating or anything but we’re bringing the heat! The production of this new commercial parody is classified but we will give you a few clues! The film will involve tattoos, a mustache and hotels rooms. Any know-it-all film junkies out there who think […]

Gunn Collection Shoot- Behind The Scenes

I’ve never met anyone more passionate than Odessa Gunn when it come to things. She doesn’t really dabble in hobbies, in fact I’m not really sure she knows how to have one. What she really does is follow her gut and put one foot in front of the other. With heart. What some people don’t know is she’s a hell of a person to hang out with. If she’s not entertaining us with interpretive dance she’s making sure we’re all fed with organic energy food. Over the past few days we’ve been shooting for her new run of Gunn Collection shirts and in […]

Gabe Tuft A.K.A. Tyler Reks Studio Session

So the other day we got a text from our buddy, former WWE wrestler (Tyler Reks) Gabe Tuft . Basically he told us that he needed a quick set of portraits and that we’re doing it or he’d punch our faces off. While we are resistant to most forms authority, we do choose our battles wisely. My first challenge was calming down our CP team member Tim Terry. Well known for his freestyle cage fighting and lack of fear, was ready to “surprise him from above” once Gabe walked in the door. Having experienced this kind of territorial aggression (mostly […]

Levi’s GranFondo Behind The Curtain Outtakes

It was a long year filming this project and some things were just bound to happen. Sometimes people just don’t know we’re recording. Although, I think Fisher just likes to be on camera. When we asked the Bike Monkey crew to come into our dark and mysterious studio so we could film them, we might have come off a tad Hannibal Lecter-ish.  Needless to say they couldn’t resist our boyishly handsome faces and agreed.  Although we eventually created the telling and trying story of Levi and his Gran Fondo during the past year, there was a much more emotional and captivating story […]

Rebecca Rusch has a crush on me

I couldn’t sleep the night before my flight to Idaho. What could I say I was as excited as a suburban white kid at a Macklemore concert. Idaho was big on my list of places to visit. It’s got potatoes, mountains, and Rebecca Rush, the Queen of Pain herself. We had to pack light for this trip so that everything we needed could fit in carry on bags for the plane.  Just FYI for any other filmmakers out there: 22ft cranes do NOT fit into the overhead bins.  And you may or may not be held in custody for 72 […]

California Cafe

The forecast said sunny but we were given mist. With about one and a half hours to shoot and a somewhat empty 100 meters of road we were able to get some good shots.
