Gabe Tuft A.K.A. Tyler Reks Studio Session
So the other day we got a text from our buddy, former WWE wrestler (Tyler Reks) Gabe Tuft . Basically he told us that he needed a quick set of portraits and that we’re doing it or he’d punch our faces off. While we are resistant to most forms authority, we do choose our battles wisely. My first challenge was calming down our CP team member Tim Terry. Well known for his freestyle cage fighting and lack of fear, was ready to “surprise him from above” once Gabe walked in the door. Having experienced this kind of territorial aggression (mostly found with dogs) with Tim before, I swiftly handled the situation by distracting him with a packet of pop rocks and reading him Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi.
By the way, this method works wonderfully in most hostile situations and encourage its use, especially spousal arguments.
This kind of behavior from Tim didn’t sit well in a previous confrontation with Gabe and I knew he wouldn’t be so understanding this go round. Succumbing to my fear of facial loss I was able to keep my professional composure and move forward with Gabe’s request for some studio shots. In one of the photos Gabe was actually laughing, seeming to be approachable and almost tender-like. Appearances can be deceiving as his laugh was quite evil and blew out one of our studio strobe lights. Not offering to repair the damage we pushed on for another 15 minutes to finish the shoot and hopefully he’d leave peacefully.
I’ll never forget the thunderous clap from his fist hitting the palm of his other hand, ” these photos will be ready today” he said. Nervously I agreed…
Thankfully he was pleased with the photos and we can continue on with our lives without fear.
You’re welcome Gabe! (please don’t hurt me)
