This Is Why HR Doesn’t Sit In.
The Vetting is a scripted real estate promo that blends cinematic flair with absurdity — a rapid-fire takedown of disastrous new agent auditions. Jen and Andy Oldham sit down to vet potential recruits for The Oldham Group… but things go off the rails fast. From awkward interviews to full-blown food-flinging chaos, Jen leads the charge in a performance that’s equal parts unhinged and unforgettable.
The Vetting – Culture Pop DNA
When Jen and Andy from The Oldham Group asked us to cook up a follow-up to Boot Camp, we pitched something even more ridiculous: a rapid-fire string of failed “agent auditions” that would spiral from quirky to unhinged.
The challenge? We had to build a visual rhythm out of chaos: custom props, costume changes, VFX, food gags, and real agents pulling off big reactions. The pacing had to snap, and the tone had to stay just left of plausible.
We shot the entire thing in a single day inside a blank office space, using creative framing, practical lighting, and a lot of cleaning supplies between takes. Post was handled entirely in Ann Arbor, with pre-pro split between Ann Arbor and Sarasota.
This is Culture Pop’s kind of mess. Sharp, funny, fast, and built to entertain. Our team wrote, directed, shot, and edited the full piece in-house, and it paid off: The Vetting earned a Bronze Telly Award for its blend of concept, craft, and comedy.
